We Celebrate God’s Presence Through Worship

In Psalm 34:3 we’re called to celebrate God’s presence by magnifying the Lord and exalting His name. We shouldn’t praise and worship out of duty; we should do so because we want to. We should enjoy expressing our love to God. In Matthew 4:10 we’re told to “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.”  You’ll notice that worship comes before service.  Worshipping God is our first purpose. It is possible to get so busy working for God that no time is left to express love for Him through praise and worship.

Our Style of Praise and Worship
At Destiny Church, there is no "correct" style of worship.  In John 4:24 Jesus gave two requirements for legitimate worship - to worship Him "in spirit and in truth."  We think this means that true worship should be done with the proper heart attitude and in a way that is consistent with Biblical truth.  We don't think God is bothered by different styles of worship, as long as it is done in spirit and in truth. In fact, we think He enjoys the variety. Remember, it was His idea to make us all different.  Personal styles of worship are more cultural than theological; we find almost a rich variety of worship styles in the Bible. We want people to relax and worship, in spirit and truth, however they desire.  We will strive to lead them in worship that is done passionately with all of their heart and mind!
