Overview We know that, as a parent, you want your children's learning environment to be safe. We also know that your children want the learning environment to be fun. We’ve invested much in our family and student resources to make the learning environment both safe and fun. Kingdom Builders (the children's ministry of Destiny Church) is broken into two sections: Wee Kingdom (Birth - Pre K), and Kidz Kingdom (Kindergarten - 6th grade). Mosaic is for teens grades 6th - 12th grade.
Philosophy of Ministry Our family and student ministry is founded on two very important chapters in the Bible: Matthew chapter 22 and Matthew chapter 28. In these two chapters we find the Great commandment and the Great Commission.
- Matthew 22:36-40 (The Great Commandment) —“Teacher, which command in the law is the most important?" Jesus answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ´Love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the law and the writings of the prophets depend on these two commands.”
These verses state two very important purposes:
- "Love the Lord your God," which is worship.
- "Love your neighbor as yourself," which is service.
Worship and service are important parts of our family and student ministries.
- Matthew 28:19-20 (The Great Commission) — ”So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of the world.”
These verses state three very important purposes.
- "Go and make followers” which is evangelism.
- “Baptize them,” which is fellowship and
- “Teach them to obey,” which is discipleship.
Evangelism, Fellowship and discipleship are also important parts of all ourfamily and student ministries.
Each of these five purposes is necessary to maintain a balanced, healthy church, as well as, a balanced, healthy life. Every activity in our family and student ministry is designed to meet one of the five purposes; we strive to be driven by the purposes of God, rather than by tradition, public opinion, or fads.
Core Values Our family-ministry values have been woven into the P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E. acrostic below. The definition of “practice” is “a custom or habit of doing something.” In family ministries, we want these values to be our custom, our habit…our P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.
